Maple Cinnamon Rolls
“Falling Into Place” on Hallmark Channel was FULL of Fall treats that had me drooling through the whole movie! Since I have a weakness for cinnamon rolls, I didn’t even question making the maple cinnamon rolls that “Gigi” made at the beginning of the movie. The combo of cinnamon and maple together make the perfect marriage of flavors for a fall treat! I had gotten a maple powder from a specialty shop a little while ago and knew I would have the perfect dish to make with it. Well, here it is!
Ingredients:
For cinnamon rolls
-1 package store bought pizza dough (I buy fresh dough from the deli).
-1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature.
-1/2 cup brown sugar
-1 tablespoon cinnamon
-1 tablespoon maple powder
For icing:
– 1/2 brick cream cheese, room temperature
-1/4 cup butter, room temperature
-2 tablespoons maple syrup
-1 teaspoon vanilla
-1/3 cup powdered sugar
-1 tablespoon milk (more for a thinner glaze)
Directions:
Let the pizza dough sit out until it gets to room temp. Roll out as if you are making a pizza, but make it more oblong shaped.
In a bowl, mix together the softened butter, cinnamon, maple powder and brown sugar until it forms a paste.
Spread all over the surface of dough, leaving half an inch open from the edge.
Tightly roll all the way, pinching any open spots closed. Slice ends off the don’t have filling in them.
In a small square baking dish, rub butter on the bottom and sides. Place the 4 cinnamon rolls, swirl side up. Cover with clean dish cloth and let proof in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Uncover, pour heavy cream on bottom just until it covers the surface of baking dish.
Bake at 350 for about 35 minutes.
While it bakes, make the icing.
In an electric mixer, beat room temp cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add vanilla and maple syrup, mixing on low speed.
Slowly add powdered sugar, followed by milk. Mix until you have reached desired consistency.
Spread all over warm cinnamon rolls and let it melt in. Serve immediately! Enjoy!
